Purchased redwoods. Trees arrived fine. One of them though did not make it. I suspected it when I opened the box. I still did plant the tree but it's been a week now and it's not growing at all unlike the others.

This is not their permanent home btw.

I for one ordered many trees from their website. I planted them as bonsai and any problems I ever had were certainly my own fault. As soon as I was able to actually purchase land I was heartbroken to hear about the issues related to the fire. I had nothing but good experiences with them and I hope and pray that one day they will be able to resume operations as they are an American treasure (the peeps and the trees)!

These guys are great ... Just order your trees. You won't be disappointed.

I have ordered from the big name catalog/online nurseries and have not been very satisfied ... in fact, have vowed never to buy another bare root plant. So I was a little hesitant to buy online from giant-sequoia.com.

Boy was I happy that I did! The tree was perfectly packed with an intact root ball in a pot and looked happy and healthy. Now granted the only shipped in-state, but these guys are great.

All of the other local nurseries were out of stock or wanted $150 for a tree that I could buy for $50 at Welker's ... so it is a win all the way around.

I received a three foot tall coastal redwood that has a trunk much too thin and weak to support itself. It will remain loosely wired to the stick for a good long time to rehab. This is a poor specimen. I received a two foot tall giant sequoia that stands great but has shown no signs of growth in almost a month. It was grown using a large quantity of perlite. Other small giant sequoia and coastal redwood specimens I received were grown mainly in perlite and had one shade of green. They seemed very artificially grown with fertilizer. They also have shown no signs of growth but they are stable. Prior to these purchases I have been growing small specimens of coastal redwood and giant sequoia from another nursery that came in dirt. They have different shades and are growing amazingly . It is best to find a nursery that grows trees in dirt that are strong and can acclimate well . Sorry to say I will not be using Welkers Nursery again.

I have purchased from this nursery for a couple of years now and they continue to amaze me with their customer service and the beautiful redwoods that they have available. If redwoods and sequoias give you a sense of awe, and you desire to introduce them to other places where they can grow, then this nursery has subject-matter knowledge and quality trees to help you with your planting ideas. If I had the space, I would not hesitate to work with them again.

In good faith I have tried to get replacement trees from Welkers. Upon delivery I told them the trees were unhealthy. Today again I requested replacement trees because they are dead.

Joe Welker tells me the trees were healthy when he sent them. He refuses to take any responsibility and send me healthy trees. He thinks it is all my problem because I have dead trees. I beg to differ.

Is this the type of business you want to trust with your money? I suggest you look elsewhere for trees.

I have tried to be diplomatic and understanding with a small business. Logic does not seem to work.

Perhaps Joe Welker thinks I’m trying to rip him off. I’m just trying to get a health plant!

I have bought from Welker's for several years, and all of my trees have arrived promptly and in great shape. Once planted, they have taken off quickly and grown beautifully. Amazing trees. I am about to order from Welker's yet again.
