We have had a GREAT experience with Utah Lawn. We purchased sod from them for a project at my daughters home.
It was the best sod I have ever laid in the past 30+ years.
As we were laying we can across some rolls that were not of the same quality. I was talking to Kyle regarding proper care of the sod after it was laid and mentioned that a few of the rolls were not of the same quality as the rest. Kyle was all over this and asked for pictures and how many rolls were not of the same quality.
We sent pictures and a count of the lower quality rolls.
Kyle made arrangements for us to pick up replacement rolls and did all she could to make things right.
We recommend Utah Lawn for sod to everyone we talk to.
THANK YOU Kyle for you assistance.

TLDR - this company is not transparent about the cost of their services, does not communicate when to expect services to be rendered, and operates in such a way that there can be severe inaccuracies for how much you are actually billed.

Timeline of events:

We took over lawn maintenance from our tenant in June, and requested that Utah Lawn come out to restart services and turn on sprinklers / get sprinklers operating.

After a visit from their team, we received an invoice for $600 for repairs, clean up, and cut. There was no call to confirm the estimate for work and no communication regarding the amount.

When we reached out to determine why we were charged this much without being informed first, the lady on the phone said that their crew thought it would be okay since that is how the property is managed. After confirming that I would like estimate for non-standard services, we moved on.

A few weeks later we got charged another $500+ for additional sprinkler work. I called to get more information from them, and they said that they were charging that much because the crew had to go back again to finish work and the office did not have the completed cost of work because their crew only reports to them once a month.

I voiced two concerns with this. One was that they never told me these services were going to be rendered after I called them the first time. Instead, this bill came in well after that call and the individual on the phone deflected my concerns saying this is just how they operate. Second is how in the world can they ensure the cost of their services are accurate when their teams are only reporting once a month?

I spoke with their sprinkler crew and they said they estimate time spent on the job based on their google maps and hand written notes regarding what parts were used on the project. They did not account for the possibility that they may have been on the phone in a location coordinating their next visit, that their hand written notes may get lost, or that they may even eat lunch at a location. Instead, they ESTIMATE the costs and share it to the office who then bills the client sometimes weeks after the services are rendered.

Admittedly, I was extremely frustrated by the situation and was probably the worst customer to deal with at that time. After speaking with the sprinkler crew and manager, I decided to give the company the benefit of the doubt and move forward with services as normal. They agreed to break the payments for sprinkler services into pieces and bill over time and we went back to them simply taking care of our lawn.

A few days later, I reached out to have them come back out for a clean up as there was an area that they missed on the initial clean up (this is understandable as the location the clean up was requested could be perceived as not part of our property). This was requested by the city since it had overgrown and when I spoke with the individual on the phone, they said they would get this taken care of. This was on July 24th.

Fast forward to today, August 9th, and the cleanup had still not happened. I called their office to find out the status, and their response was we were scheduled for next Monday, August 12th. I asked why I was not informed, and their initial response was there are two different teams that conduct lawn maintenance and clean ups. I get that there are two different teams, but that still does not change why I would not be informed that clean up would not happen for three weeks. I explicitly remember noting to the individual on the phone that this was ordered by the city and we had 15 days to do it, but when I was handed over to the manager, they simply said it's because they have two different clean up crews.

I, again, lost my cool as a customer because at this point it was a broken record. The manager suggested that we part ways, and we have as of today.

I recommend you work with this company if you appreciate shoddy accounting, terrible communication, and a general lack of accountability.

This company came to my house and started mowing my lawn without knocking and getting permission. When they realized they had the wrong house half way through they packed up their stuff and left. They left all the clippings on the lawn that they cut way to short. They broke two sprinklers and will not come back to clean up and fix the sprinklers. Then I call and all they say is they made a honest mistake. Have a great day.
Horrible company. I am not a customer and I will never be.

Always in stock with the freshest, best priced sod to find in Salt Lake City. I buy a couple pieces of sod every couple weeks for a patio for my dogs. Needless to say I’m buying sod all the time. This sod is always so fresh, green, and they are always in stock. If I ever needed anything for a yard they are the first place I would go.

I would never ever recommend these guys. We hired them to take care of our HOA. Although our contract states very clearly that it is through October 31, 2018 they claim that their contract ends on Oct 1, 2018. Therefore, they will not perform the Fall Clean up and sprinkler blowout, etc.(part of the contract). They claim they applied all 4 fertilizations per contract. Only three were applied this year. (they are counting the one from last fall, however it says four for the season) They say that damage caused by landscapers will be repaired. We have fence damage caused by weed eaters and lawn mowers. We had three different windows broken by the landscapers this season. They won't claim responsibility for a single one. (We've never had broken windows in 20 years of the neighborhood, until these guys came.)
Every week they came we had to call them up to let them know what was missed, which patios were not blown off, which lawns were missed, etc.
The contract included weeding. There are more weeds in our neighborhood than there has ever been.
Trimming of bushes is part of the contract. There are still bushes in our neighborhood which never received trimming. They had to be called back three times for trimming the bushes throughout and they still missed some. When they noted dying grass, they turned up the water. I found some places where they were watering for 50 minutes on areas that were already lakes and couldn't be mowed because of it. However, they ran the big lawn mowers over it anyway, which caused damage and great big muddy ruts throughout the common areas.
Horrible job!!! I will never recommend them!
