My husband and I recently renovated a charming 100+ year-old home right up the block from Thrifty Garden. When we were ready to redo the front yard we wanted to support a local business, so we contracted with Rick from Thrifty Garden. The goals of the project were to install plants that would attract butterflies and have ground cover in most of the yard and in between the walkway pavers. In May we signed up for a monthly plan that included these goals as well as regular watering and weed maintenance, with a completion timeframe of August 31st.
While some nice plants were installed on the perimeter of the yard, the rest of the yard was riddled with weeds throughout the entire project and remain to this day. Additionally ground cover was never installed or planned. The front yard looks like one that you would see in front of an abandoned house. I have had neighbors stop by and ask when we planned to fix front yard. When I told them we had a professional do the yard they were in shock. After spending $1,200 and expressing our dissatisfaction to Rick, he does not see what he could have done differently and has made no genuine attempt to remedy this.
I think the attached pictures speak for themselves. Do yourself a favor and think twice before contracting with Thrifty Garden. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Nice place. Pretty but pricey flower pots. Lots of starter plants in pots. Neat and tidy. Nice friendly service provided. In my opinion the monkey in the cage is just plain weird and borders on being offensive.

We had a wonderful experience at the Thrifty Garden. It is so much more than a garden, with a fantastic cafe, coffee shop, gift shop, gallery and butterfly garden to boot. We had some great grilled hot dogs and refreshments....they have draft beer and fun drinks for the adults too. My kids enjoyed the butterfly garden about as much as the Kennedy Space center which costs hundreds more. This is a hidden gem in Fort Myers not to be missed. Such a cool little find. We will be back.

I found Thrifty Garden a couple of months ago when they offered a free Plant Swap. Bring a plant, take a plant. I was so happy to find this little jewel of Fort Myers. They are so knowledgeable about all kinds of plants and flowers. The carry a large variety of butterfly plants at very reasonable prices. They also have a unique selection of gifts items and local honey. They offer classes and demos on house plants, floral design and sprouting. A small business you want to check out.

Nice place where you can see a butterfly exhibit, buy house plants, have a drink/food, and look at art made by local artists. Admission into the butterfly house is $10 for non resident and $9 for Florida residents. They also offer senior and children discounts.
