Suttrich Landscaping turned our uninhabitable backyard into a beautiful, easily maintained and relaxing area to enjoy! Drew and his team were kind, accommodating and always willing to go the extra mile to make our backyard a calming sanctuary for my husband and I, while providing the perfect areas for our toddler and young dog to play. He didn’t nickel and dime us and always made time to talk through modifications or any questions we had. He is local and trustworthy. Update: 7/2024 - Suttrich is under investigation by the Attorney General's Office (Seniors vs. Crime.) (See attached letter). Suttrich is unlicensed, but working under another's irrigation license. For someone who's been in business for over 20 years, I would expect he would have his own license! What a blowhard!

I regret hiring Suttrich Landscaping. If you hire Suttrich, you will be responsible for supervising Drew's crew. If you're lucky, you'll catch things while they can be corrected. Drew hired unskilled craftsmen and laborers that needed constant supervision. (see image below of the steps)

Unfortunately, the "debris" that is referenced in the contract to be removed turned out to be a 1930's cast iron sink, the base of a 10' cantilever umbrella, countless unique rusted iron farm equipment gears that would have found their way into ceramic sculpture.

Laying sod is a basic skill for a landscaper. Well, not in my experience with Suttrich. The crew laid sod over gravel and landscape cloth (see image), which was indicated to be removed by the contract Drew and I signed. Much of that sod has not rooted. On October 9, they laid the sod. On October 16, I walked the front yard and contacted Drew because of the sizable highs and lows throughout the entire yard. He said he would take care of it.

A job that was scheduled to last 3 weeks, took 3 months and still was not finished. On December 21, Drew and I were walking the front lawn at which time I pointed out that the lawn created a fall risk. "The crew was quick in laying the sod," said Drew. It was then I realized Drew knew all along the problems I reported a week after installation were legitimate.

I terminated our working relationship that day. The sanding and sealing of the pavers, sanding and sealing the pergola posts, etc., still need to be done and were paid for. Drew was not able to execute his lily pond design (which was paid for). He concealed with black plastic sheeting the unstable soil supporting the bricks along the rim. The walls were caving in. The workmanship was nothing I could accept. I will have to pay for these things out of pocket or we will settle in court. (see images)

Drew has a lot of very good reviews, but they are old. In the past year, he has had 4 reviews, one of which is a 1 star for being a no-show for an appointment. I paid over $76,000 for a job that should have received more attention. I'll always remember this as being a very stressful experience, one I wouldn't recommend to anyone else.

IN RESPONSE TO DREW'S COMMENT: Working with you was like pushing a boulder up a hill. On December 21, I realized that YOU KNEW the sod was inadequately installed. I've had 3 lawn companies come to the site and they were astonished by what you left here. I mentioned it to you several times, you failed to act. Stonewalling your customer is wrong on so many levels.

We just had a torrential downpour and the pergola is flooded. YOU were the one that suggested the pergola could redirect the flow of water to prevent this from happening.

On December 21 when I terminated our contract based on breach of contract, it was in response to your deceit in regard to the sod, the structural integrity of the pond, etc. ... all of which became known after a draft review was prepared.

Simply put, YOU didn't have the management skills to successfully complete the job. The photos speak for themselves ... and this doesn't even touch half of it! Many of these things became apparent as I began to "live" with your design.

Drew and his landscaping team were great to work with and helped us turn our vision of what we wanted our yard to look like into reality. Drew implemented an incredible transformation of our property. Ours was a really big project, which other landscaping contractors had refused because it was too big. Drew's attitude was "the bigger the better!". It required removal of hundreds of overgrown plants, miles of old irrigation pipes, removal of 60 cubic yards of earth, grading, installation of new irrigation, new large palms, shrubs, 2200 square feet of travertine pavers, 850 square feet of artificial turf and 5500 square feet of new sod.

The outcome is spectacular and exceeded our expectations. Being such a large job, there were many unexpected surprises and challenges. Drew addressed each of them with calm determination. It was clear throughout the process that he was committed to achieving an excellent outcome. The plant materials that he installed were all top notch. He went out of his way to ensure excellence.

We are so pleased that he agreed to tackle our project and are so very pleased with the results. We recommend Suttrich Landscaping, especially if the project is challenging, large, and requires a team with dogged determination.
