I highly recommend Pacific Garden Artistry Landscaping. From the moment I met Rich I felt like he made sure to understand the needs for my yard and that he genuinely cared. My property backs up to open space and I get a LOT of water that I have to defer out to the front. What I had in place was no longer working and Rich was able to make a plan and finish the work before the rains started. He really listened, looked at old photos and videos that I had to understand my yard's needs. Once the work was finished & the rain started he followed up and had his crew come back to make adjustments until he & I were both satisfied. They were on time, checked in with me when needed, made sure to clean up each day. Rich and his crew went above and beyond to make sure the work was finished correctly and in a timely manner.

If I could give Richard and his crew 10 stars, I would. He gives 150% of his time and attention to your job. He listens to your needs and offers his suggestions in order to improve your landscape and make it beautiful. He's very creative and his ideas make for a very beautiful garden. He also solved our irrigation system with a new improved set up.
He and his crew are the best!!!!

Richard Sandifer and his crew created a beautiful, colorful, and environmental-friendly oasis in our front and side yards. They faithfully followed the garden design by replacing the old soil with a nutrient rich mix; removing the dried up lawn with pea gravel; setting up an extensive drip system; and planting colorful perennials and ground cover that greatly complement the Spanish/Mediterranean architecture of our house. These perennials also attract pollinators. We are very happy about the final result and have received many compliments and inquiries. Richard and his crew are very professional and wonderful to work with on this project. We highly recommend them for other garden projects.

We bought a house with stellar views on the hills behind Dominican University. But it needed work--lots of the expensive maintenance and upgrade jobs that you can't see. This year, we wanted to make a visible statement. We wanted to transform our sad front landscape of patchy grass and tired trees. Rich had answers. I chose him in part because he has his own crew; it drives me nuts when a contractor can't find enough pick-up workers, so is late or just doesn't show. Rich's crew arrived On Time Every Day. They were quiet, courteous, and shied from no labor. Rich has vision. And listens. Which was vital to planning a new landscape on our steep slope. All the dated walks: gone. New ones were level (safer), and included bluestone and a graceful S-shaped walk from driveway to the main walk. Grass: gone. Aging trees and bushes: gone. In went a group of beds, crushed stone, and regional plants that are deer resistant (the deer don't always follow the book), with a variety of colors and shapes--plants that will quickly double/triple in size. The addition of a couple of redwood retainer walls create a welcome tiered effect. The wasteful sprinkler systems: gone. Everything is on a timed, three-station drip. Concrete feet for a fence we never knew had been there: gone. And the yard recontoured. A neighbor walked by shortly after the job was done and said, "I have landscape envy." Rich isn't cheap. But quality isn't.

Our back yard is under oak trees along the Novato Creek. We have found it very difficult to grow a lawn in the shade of the trees. We would plant one, but is would soon be overrun with weeds and become mud in the winter. Therefore, we wanted a hard surface and a pathway. We also thought it would be fun to have lights for the trees in the evening.

Richard suggested the circular pathway with the artificial turf in between the pavers which we loved. The whole feeling our back yard was transformed into a Zen experience. It looked great in plan and even better once built. The work was expertly done by Eric and even the formwork for the pavers was beautiful. It is a great work of art.

It was a real pleasure to work with Rich and his crew on our patio and front yard project! Our patio was too small, not well designed and trippy, and the yard was a desolation of crumbling terraces with plants and weeds gone wild.
Rich helped turn it into my new favorite hangout place. He was very good at listening to my wishes while letting me know about limitations and realistic expectations, and would discuss options to make sure I got what I wanted.
He patiently answered all my questions and concerns, was on top of things, and went the extra mile, fixing seemingly unrelated things that would have had an impact on the finished project. Rich was really good at communicating about finances around the project and working with the approved budget.
Last but not least, Rich and his crew are a happy bunch of friendly people that I’ve loved having around while they were working on our project.
Overall a great experience and a team I strongly recommend for any of your projects, big or small!

I can't think of enough good things to say about Richard, Fernando and Eric of Pacific Garden Artistry! We have one of those impossible steep downhill backyards and before we found PGA it was a sad graveyard of failed attempts to civilize it. Now it is the showpiece of the neighborhood - neighbors and passersby are always complimenting it. PGA has also made our front patio an oasis. In addition to the beautiful plantings, the gentlemen have done quite a bit of building for us, including wooden and stone retaining walls and wooden and stucco storage sheds, and everything has been beautifully designed and executed. It's not just the big project work they excel at: Their routine maintenance is punctual, professional and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

I had the pleasure of working with Rich and his team this past summer through fall. It was a complex job involving drainage, hardscape, and a comprehensive irrigation rebuild. Not only did Rich deliver on both budget and timeline, but the quality and craftsmanship of the work was exemplary. Rich kept the project well organized, was super communicative and collaborative. The crew did all the work by hand using high quality materials and kept a well-organized and clean job site. We look forward to working with Rich and his team again in the future and would highly recommend Pacific Garden Artistry.
