This place is truly a hidden gem. The food is so good, absolutely everything I have tried has been nothing short of outstanding. Such a great atmosphere, the entertainment, the bartenders and servers, everyone is so sweet, so kind, so knowledgeable! Mercedes was patient and answered all of my questions and I couldn’t be more pleased. Don’t get scared of the menu, they will help you figure out what you’ll love! I would recommend them to everyone who comes to town. I’ll be back over and over again!

My wife is German and we wanted to try a German restaurant. We drove always out to Ruskin and it was worth it. We had the Jager Schnitzel and Schweinshax’n and it was good. We also had the German beer. That was great. Going back for sure..

Lovely little place in Sun City. When we first walked in, I was very impressed at the size and ambiance.

Our server was an absolute delight, the beer selection was good, and the other patrons were enjoyable.

This could have been a stellar experience; however, the food did not have an authentic flavor at all. Everything was too sweet, and the lack of sufficient vinegar was disappointing.

Serving sizes were okay, although price seemed a little steep for the quantity and quality.

If you love German food, if you love to be comforted by the food not only by the flavor, this is the place for you. My family came here for a birthday celebration and it's always a good sign to see that as soon as the doors open people start rushing in. We drove an hour to this restaurant and let me tell you it was worth the drive. I ordered the house special or Castle special as they would say it and it was delicious. We also had the sampler for an appetizer. Highly recommend. For dessert, I had the apple strudel which was the lightest pastry I've ever had and the apples were cooked to perfection.

After reading the reviews my husband and I were excited to try Old Castle Restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not a positive experience at all and we won’t be returning.

We arrived around 6:40 and were seated within a few minutes. Our waitress took our drink and dinner order and then we didn’t see her again at all for over an hour. She never checked back with us and we didn’t get our food until about 8:25.

When trying to ask our waitress about the wait she didn’t make eye contact with us or even stop to talk to us and just went into the kitchen. We sat and watched all these folks who came in after us get served and leave and we sat there.

When she came by to tell us they were working on our food my husband tried to ask her if this long of a wait was typical for this restaurant but she didn’t stop to even talk to us. Eventually, 20 min after first trying to find out where our food was and telling our waitress we needed to leave, she brought our food.

She didn’t apologize. She didn’t make eye contact with us or even talk to us. When my husband tried to talk to her about the wait she mumbled she gave us a discount and ran off again.

The food was definitely not worth the wait and had very little seasoning or flavor. We ate quickly and had to flag our waitress down once again just to get the check.

I hate to make assumptions based on one visit to a restaurant, but everyone else in that restaurant was white- and my husband is not. In the climate we are in now, one can’t help but wonder where it is safe to eat as a person who isn’t white. We were definitely not made to feel welcome while we saw the waitress being kind to others and serving them quickly. I hope it was just a bad night, but when you keep having these kinds of issues of not feeling welcome in certain areas, you stop wanting to spend your money in places that make it clear they don’t want you there.

Old Castle is hands down the best authentic German restaurant in town. Great selection of beer and food. Authentic Schnitzels, Sauerkraut and pretzels oh my! Lunch portions as well as dinner sizes. Wonderful ambiance. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for the great lunch!
