We recently had the pleasure of working with Gary Holt at Holt Landscaping to completely redesign our front and back yard. The redesign included pavers, sod, lighting, planting, drainage, irrigation, etc. I can confidently say that my experience exceeded all expectations. From the initial consultation to the final touches, Holt Landscaping showcased a level of professionalism and dedication that is hard to come by.

One of the standout features of this company was their exceptional communication. Gary was always available by phone, text or email. He kept in contact with us weekly, providing updates on progress and discussing any adjustments or decisions that needed to be made. This transparency made the entire process feel collaborative, and it was comforting to know that we were always on the same page. Gary kept the stress to the absolute minimum!

The team was consistently on-time, which is a rare quality in the service industry. They were extremely hard working and we appreciated their attention to detail. The quality of their work was superb. The work site was left completely spotless at the conclusion of each day.

Overall, I would absolutely hire Holt Landscaping again without hesitation.

Holt Landscape delivered on upgrading the exterior of our late-80’s home into a modern living space. Our project included a new driveway and front entry, a redo on side and rear yard drainage, new retaining walls, complete demo on old landscaping, and creation of multi-use backyard living areas, effectively extending our indoor living space to the outside, and extending the outside landscaping to be part of our interior design.

The centerpiece is a water feature we turn on daily, which we can enjoy whether we are inside or out. There are two distinct relaxation and entertainment spaces, extending our family room to the outdoors for dining and living room outdoors to enjoy with family and friends.

Holt Landscape brought the feeling of the Sierra Mountains, which we love, into our Roseville backyard. Landscaping is coordinated while rustic at the same time. As requested, the plantings by Holt Landscape attract hummingbirds and butterflies (without bothersome bees!).

Out front, Holt Landscape creatively enlarged our driveway within the old landscaping-concrete footprint, increasing parking and turnaround) space while at the same time modernizing curb appeal and creating a warm welcome to our home.

We were looking for a single-source solution to execute on our vision. Holt Landscape delivered, coordinating all aspects of the project at construction, and now, a year later, giving us a low-maintenance environment we enjoy daily.

I’m thrilled with the work Holt Landscape did for me. They renovated my backyard – curved redwood deck with surrounding curved rock wall on two sides; pergola with lights, ceiling fan, misters and retractable canopy and shades; two water features; new grading, irrigation and drainage; flagstone walks; and extensive soil preparation, planting, and shredded bark cover. Gary Holt, the owner, was easy to work with. We met with Gary Holt after being "ghosted" by another landscape designer...which turned out to be fortuitous! When he came, we walked him through what we wanted, which was quite a bit of work. He took that back and after a week or so provided us with a quote. In addition, we had some items as optional, pending our budget at the time of the project.

After we approved and sent a small deposit, we scheduled a tentative start date, which was about 4 month out (during Covid days, everything takes longer). As we approached the date, I contacted Gary and he asked to push out a couple of weeks due to other projects taking longer than anticipated. That was fine with us...as mentioned, these things don't go so smoothly anymore!

Anyway, after that short extra delay, the workers all arrived and work got started. The workers on the team were awesome. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and detail oriented. Gary was often out there, checking up on stuff and making sure we were happy. As work progressed, we had a payment play in place and that's how we went.

The worst part was the pergola we wanted was delayed, repeatedly. That's not Gary's fault. At the end, we agreed to order 3 similar ones and take the first one that arrived. It did, about 6 months after the rest of the work was done, but once it did, the team came and installed it and we couldn't be happier!

Overall, we are truly enamored with our new backyard! It's our oasis and Hold Landscape Inc brought it into being. It did take patience...and like some people have mentioned, communication can sometimes not be that great, but based on my experience and other people's (who hired other landscapers), that's kind of the way it is. Regardless, Gary always got back to me.
