Peter and his team from Sweet Orchard set the ground work for our amazing food forest. He and his team worked with my husband and I to review the natural flow of water and reviewed the landscape to determine the best location of our garden beds and best means to hydrate them.

Based on the assessment, he and Cameron from Bring-Back Eden created the water shed areas that paralleled natural water collection and the areas that would be best for plants in this area vs. drier areas. Without this very important foundational work, your food forest will not be successful.

He created the swales and berms to maximize the capturing of rainfall and the developed the trenches and irrigation directing water off the house and pool to the garden beds- again key to have a food forest with higher yield.

In addition, because we live in a housing development with an HOA - we needed to get approval by the board. With Peters education and expertise and Cameron’s training and expertise in the area of permaculture and building food forests, we were able to help the HOA board understand just how much more environmentally safe and visually appealing the design would be then if my husband and I were to do it without there assistance. The board all became very excited about the projected and approved it unanimously.

What an amazing nursery for plants that offer benefits other than beauty and decoration! The knowledge they and expertise they offer is unmatched, and the results are amazing. Our Mulberry tree started from a twig and now we enjoy fruit every year. Highly recommend visiting to see what additions you can make to your landscaping and property.

Sweet Orchard
We moved to Florida from Pennsylvania where we had a large garden. Our new house has some land. We decided to plant fruit trees and local flowers there. We've read a lot of books and Internet articles about the sustainable agriculture in Central Florida. Still we have more questions that answers. One day we googled local nurseries (Alafaya-Bithlo area) and found one new nursery, 7 min from our house. On our arrival, Peter and his wife greeted us at the entrance, showed us their garden and green houses. We discussed our needs, and received a lot useful information and recommendation. We left with a plan to order a miniature fig tree and a pineapple that will thrive in CF. We also discussed local flowers and edible herbs and plants. Apparently, Peter is planning to sell organic compost, soil, and mulch. We are planning come back in two weeks.
I think that Sweet Orchard has a great potential to become a local educational center of sustainable agriculture.
