This place has been my go-to local nursery for many years as an indoor-plant collector, but unfortunately over the last year the quality of the indoor plants has declined quite a bit. The indoor greenhouse areas in particular are infested with thrips among other damaging pests and despite bringing it to the attention of the staff, does not appear to have improved. Many of the plants have a lot of visible pest damage and yellowing leaves as a result.

They do have a lovely selection of plants and pretty reasonable prices, as well as excellent decorative pots, but I can not risk my plant collection at home by purchasing plants here anymore and would not recommend it unless you are prepared to quarantine and treat the plants.

«Old Country Gardens» is an absolute gem! As I rushed in on the eve of my mother's birthday, desperately seeking fresh flowers, I stumbled upon this oasis of charm around 4:40 pm. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enchanted by the cozy ambiance and the delightful array of decorative treasures. Despite the impending closing time, the two wonderful employees welcomed me with genuine smiles, ready to assist.

My eyes were immediately drawn to the stunning selection of vases, offering the perfect complement to any floral arrangement. And speaking of flowers, they had my mother's beloved orchid in her favorite color in stock! The staff went above and beyond, expertly wrapping the orchid in exquisite gift paper and tying it with a bow, despite the clock ticking towards closing time.

Needless to say, the gift was a hit with my mom, who was overjoyed by the surprise. I, in turn, was thoroughly impressed by the warmth and dedication of the staff. Old Country Gardens is not just a store; it's an experience brimming with passion and care. I can't wait to return and explore more of their treasures. Thank you for making my last-minute gift hunt a memorable success!!!

Thanks to the milkweed I bought here I achieved my summer goal of Monarch butterflies and caterpillars in my yard. Made my summer 🙂 Side note: Great selection. My lettuce, basil, dill and parsley did awesome.

A hidden gem in Delaware, this store is a unique place to find indoor and outdoor plants. Their selection is amazing and it feels like a botanical garden when you’re walking around. They have an incredible bonsai collection.I was visiting town for the holidays and brought my boyfriend here… he is now so impressed with me. I highly recommend shopping here. ?

We had some problems with trees we purchased and the owner Steve was incredibly helpful in solving our problem. He worked with us with incredible customer service and provided a solution. My wife and I are extremely happy with the replacement trees. Also Sue was wonderful we could have to to her for hours between her and Steve we will be lifetime customers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️?

What a great place for houseplants! They have a very wide selection of all kinds of cool houseplants in their indoor greenhouse and inside the building. The small plants are very reasonably priced and every time I go I find something new! Most of the plants are in awesome condition and seem to be well cared for.

Amazing place and amazing staff reminds me of my grandmother's place in NJ when it was opened, Lisa and Kathy were amazing people to talk to while we were there... can't wait to come back and do some more business... so glad I got to pick up some variegated andrews crotons and variegated string of pearls!!! I did get tons of pictures tho!!!

When I discovered this place 5 years ago, I was so thrilled to have found a local garden center to support; the Christmas shop is an added bonus. However, on my recent trip to old country gardens (I have been there multiple times over the years and spent quite a bit of money) my friend and I both felt a weird hostility towards us. Except for one employee, nobody greeted us or made eye contact. We even found the workers staring at us on multiple occasions. As a POC, I am always sensitive to people treating me differently or thinking I am not worth being attended to, and with the state of the world right now, racism is anything but uncommon. But I was saddened to have received such treatment from workers at a place I so dearly adore and have brought multiple friends and coworkers to the shop over the years. I think this place could use some diversity when it comes to customer service. We are in 2024 and acts of racism is so uncalled for.
