Buyer beware! I purchased approximately $500 in shrubs from The Sprucery. I was told that if there were any issues with the shrubs that I could call and they would assist me with a replacement. I expected this to be an exception to their warranty and more like a return/exchange process based on what the salesperson told me. I brought them home, planted them, and noticed one of the shrubs was already dying. I called the Sprucery right away, but they directed me to email the warranty department. More than 2 weeks later they finally responded and told me that they would not treat this as an exchange and instead I was stuck with only a 50% reimbursement as a credit toward the purchase of new plant material. This is unacceptable. I understand they have a warranty of only 50% when you choose to plant yourself, but it's not as though I planted these shrubs and 11 months later I tried to get an exchange. I had an issue within mere days of purchase and rather than accommodate a replacement, they insisted on strictly applying their warranty of only 50% toward the purchase of a new shrub. I'll be purchasing the remaining plants and trees for my landscaping from another nursery.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Megan at the Sprucery on the landscaping for our front and back yard. We are in a new build and definitely had some slope challenges to work with. Megan was able to address those issues, while still creating a unique and beautiful design. The end result exceeded our expectations, and we absolutely love the design! We were particularly impressed by the dedication, attention to detail, and hard work of the crew, especially Luis and his team. The entire process, from design to construction, was seamless, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. We highly recommend the Sprucery!

Megan designed the backyard we wanted, and the crew made it come to life! The hardscape was done meticulously, and the installation of the paver patio, artificial turf, retaining wall and planting the shrubs brought it all together. Megan selected plants that will be beautiful additions to our yard.

EDIT: I eventually spoke with Travis at the nursery about the oak tree, he acknowledged that an exception should have been made with this circumstance and will be crediting our account for the fall growing season for the full value of the oak. Between speaking with the other person who was apparently seasonal help and speaking with Travis, I replaced the nonviable oak with one from a different nursery as I didn't have time to waste, but plan to be back to this nursery in the fall. One thing in their reply below: I emailed on June 9 about the oak tree, a few weeks before my review, not a few hours. So, if you do have issues with a tree, I would advise trying to get a hold of Travis by phone, you'll have a knowledgeable person on the line to help with your issues.

Original review:
I really want to like this place, as I've bought several healthy trees from them, and Dusty is fantastic. But this spring was an exception. In early May my wife bought a large 3.25" diameter/18-20' tall Texas Red Oak tree for me for our anniversary. It appeared dormant as were all oaks that hadn't leafed out yet, but had some buds and green on a small scratch test, and I was told it would leaf out late spring. Their planting service was booked out to mid June so I just had them delivered instead and planted myself to take advantage of cooler temperatures to help it establish. I've watched them plant several trees and have planted others myself successfully over the years, so I copied the process. I had some issues with a Redpointe Maple but it's bouncing back, otherwise great success. My other trees leafed out but this oak took its time. I was patient, and watered as recommended. The top half of the tree never leafed out, so I emailed, then called, and was told to cut away the dead stuff and water more (I use tree gators to measure the correct amount of water per week). I got on a ladder (the top half is about 9 ft off the ground, remember tall big tree), and found the entire top half of the tree is dead. I trimmed back much of the dead stuff, and still only the bottom half of the tree leafed out. Scratching the leader reveals its dead - no green, nothing.

Most places would honor this as a replacement as I bought a dormant tree that never leafed out on fully half its height. This is different than the intent of a warranty where a live tree instead succumbed later due to poor watering, heat, other extrema, etc. I was instead offered 50% store credit, per their policy, but I really think the policy should be a bit more flexible in this case - they sold me a dysfunctional tree - no one else would buy this tree if they saw it in the yard later, when it was obviously dead from the midpoint up, and they'd have to scrap it anyway. If it died after leafing out, or was run over by the mower, or didn't come back next year after a brutal winter, that's not their fault. But this is, in my opinion. This was not a viable tree from the start. This vein of logic, however, did not impress their warranty person.

I went to a wholesaler (with no warranty usually), showed them this image of the dead leader, and the guy said "that looks like s***" and he went in his computer to start an exchange for me until I told him unfortunately I didn't buy from them. He said, "while we have no warranty, that type of thing would normally be a free exchange for a viable tree from us here." Exactly.

THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN! Literally the worst service imaginable on all fronts. First trees were planted.. then they died with drip lines installed. Then their "warranty" only covers their small inventory and they boost the price on you so you have to get smaller trees, or pay more. Oh and you have to pay hundreds of dollars for installation again. Then they schedule you in.. were late by hours for the install and brought half dead trees to my place. And they claim THEY are the ones inconvenienced. This is an absolute joke of a business and you should avoid them at all costs. Listed below are the joke of trees they brought to my house.

This is a fantastic company! The people are friendly and the environment makes you not want to leave. It's hard to go back to work when you need to stop by and get some things because you just want to stay there all day! Really high quality plants and a beautiful property!

We had them come out in the spring to turn on our sprinklers, and now that it’s time to winterize them, we are all of the sudden out of their service area. I get that service areas change, but they said they’d get me on their schedule for winterization then a week later told me we live too far away. Seems like it would have been customer service to finish out the year, instead of leaving people hanging right before the first freeze. Definitely would not recommend this company!
